Vikingeforeningen Det Kolde Gys has contributed to planting a new forest in Kenya and protecting the endangered forests in Zimbabwe.

In addition to removing and avoiding carbon in the atmosphere, the projects also promote equality, education and the fight against HIV/AIDS in local areas and protect several endangered animal species.

Through these projects, Vikingeforeningen Det Kolde Gys contributes to the UN’s SDG no. 13: Climate Action.

About

Vikingeforeningen Det Kolde Gys

Det Kolde Gys is Copenhagen's largest winter swimming association with over 5,500 members. The association has existed since 1929.

The association belongs to Helgoland Søbadeanstalt by Amager Strandpark. Heligoland is owned by the City of Copenhagen, and Det Kolde Gys rents in the right to use Helgoland during the winter season.

This means that the association has the safety responsibility for everyone who is on Helgoland. All members must therefore follow the safety rules set by Team Bade and the City of Copenhagen.

The bathing establishment is divided into resp. a men's, a ladies and a common department. The association has 5 saunas, 4 changing rooms, and a communal house.
